NCED appoints new CEO

The National Centre of Excellence in Desalination (NCED) announced the appointment of Neil Palmer as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Based at Murdoch University, the NCED is funded by a $20 million commitment from the Australian Government under its Water for the Future initiative. It has additional funding from the Western Australian Government to design and construct a world-class desalination pilot testing facility at Murdoch University’s Rockingham campus.

Palmer, currently the General Manager of Technical Services at Osmoflo, the largest Australian owned desalination and water recycling company, will take up his duties in late October. Prior to Osmoflo, Palmer was Chief Engineer for United Utilities Australia for five years, where he was responsible for engineering design and process solutions.

Palmer is a member of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a Life Member of the Australian Water Association (AWA). He is a Director of the International Desalination Association, past President of the AWA South Australia Branch and was a member of AWA’s national Board for six years.

Lifeline Welcomes New CEO

Dr Maggie Jamieson will be Lifeline’s new national CEO.

Dr Jamieson comes to the organisation from Greater Southern Area Health Service, where she was acting Chief Executive, and brings with her over 20 years experience in the health and community sector as well as a passionate interest in health, research and development.

Dr Jamieson will commence her appointment on the 3rd of January 2011.

New CEO to lead ACCAN into next phase

The board of the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) has announced that Acting CEO Teresa Corbin will be the body’s new Chief Executive. Ms Corbin is currently at ACCAN and will move immediately into the new role.

Corbin has worked in the telecommunications industry for over the past 15 years. After co-ordinating the team that established ACCAN in 2009, Ms Corbin was awarded the Australian Telecommunications Users Group Chairman’s Award for her outstanding contribution to communications users. As Deputy CEO at ACCAN over the past year, she has continued to work for equity and fairness for consumers in the communications marketplace.

ANZPAA announces new Chief Executive Officer

The Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) has announced that Assistant Commissioner Jon White will commence as Chief Executive Officer in the beginning of December, bringing with him over 36 years’ experience with New Zealand Police.
White has been involved in bringing about organisational change. He was promoted to Assistant Commissioner in 1997, when he joined the New Zealand Police Executive and took the lead role for Human Resources. In the period post-September 2001 he took responsibility for counter terrorism, national security-related matters, and had responsibility for all international activities.

Established in October 2007, ANZPAA provides strategic policy advice to the ANZPAA Board on cross-jurisdictional policing initiatives to help enhance community safety and security.
