Sydney North Health Network appoints Sarah Barter to the Board of Directors

Sydney North Health Network (Northern Sydney Primary Health Network) appoints Northside local, Sarah Barter, to the Board of Directors. 

The Northern Sydney Primary Health Network, operated by the Sydney North Health Network – a not-for-profit organisation – is one of 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs) established by the Australian Government to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for the community. 

Sarah’s professional background is both as a Board Director and a Consultant-Consumer and Community Engagement; Sarah’s academic qualifications include a BA (Psych), an LLB and a Master of Public Health.   

Sarah is an experienced Board Director, having been appointed to the Karitane Board and the St Vincent’s Clinic Board before this. She is also a consumer advisor for NSLHD. Sarah has over 14 years of experience working to improve Australia’s health and aged care sector, including four years as an independent consultant. Before that, Sarah worked in management roles for NSW Health and HammondCare and was a sessional academic for Western Sydney University.  

“I blend my personal and professional experience to drive the delivery of person-centred care for improving the health, wellbeing and quality of life for people of the Northern Sydney region’, said Barter. 

Sarah is passionate about partnering with consumers and communities to codesign and deliver better care and services for the population. She is particularly interested in designing strong governance and quality, safety, and risk management systems.   

Sarah is a Northern Sydney local through and through. She grew up in Sydney’s North Shore and is now a resident of the area, living with her two primary school-aged children in the leafy Lane Cove area.
