The QBE Foundation hosted its annual Goals for Good event at Saturday’s AFL clash between the Sydney Swans and Fremantle Dockers, resulting in a donation of $75,000.

The initiative saw the QBE Foundation pledge $3,000 for each of the 14 goals the Swans scored during the game at the SCG, but after the game, the overall donation was rounded up to $75,000.

Funds raised will be split between QBE’s community partners and the Sydney Swans Foundation.

Last year, after the Swans recorded a 171-point victory and kicked 31 goals against West Coast, the QBE Foundation donated $93,000, while $70,000 had been donated in the two years prior.

Jon Fox, QBE Foundation co-chair, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that it was an enjoyable way for QBE to continue its support of community partners.

“Our partnership with the Sydney Swans, spanning almost four decades, has given us an amazing opportunity to support the communities and causes that are important to both our organisations.”

“We’re proud to continue this essential work through this year’s QBE Foundation Goals for Good initiative, and help create strong, resilient, and inclusive communities,” said Fox.

The funds donated through this year’s Goals for Good will go towards QBE’s community partners: Save the Children Australia, Stars Foundation, Australian Red Cross, Orange Sky, and R U OK?, as well as the Sydney Swans Foundation.

Volunteers from the Australian Red Cross, Orange Sky and R U OK? also had the special honour of forming the Guard of Honour at the game.

Fox emphasised that this provided a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the dedication of those who support our communities.

“QBE is honoured to stand alongside our community partners, whose dedication to fostering positive change is truly inspiring,” added Fox.

“Together, we strive to build stronger, more resilient, and inclusive communities.”

Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley highlighted that the initiative is a fantastic opportunity to bring people together for a worthy cause.

“QBE’s Goals for Good is a terrific initiative to give back to organisations who are doing vital work in the community.”
