tekFinder has taken a bold step towards giving back to the community with the launch of its pro bono initiative, tekFoundation.

This venture aims to bridge the gap between not-for-profits (NFPs) and skilled tech professionals eager to donate their expertise. While numerous platforms allow NFPs to post volunteer opportunities, tekFoundation stands out by actively sourcing the right candidates for the job.

Many Australian NFPs and community groups struggle to maintain their digital presence due to outdated websites and limited resources. Nick Shepherd, founder of tekFinder and tekFoundation, recognised this challenge after speaking with NFPs facing difficulties in recruiting due to strict salary limitations.

In response, tekFoundation was created to alleviate these constraints by connecting NFPs with volunteers like Product Manager Agron Cela, who is currently revamping the 16-year-old website of Australian Refugee Volunteers (ARV).

Beverly Ho, an ARV volunteer, highlighted the significant impact of having a professional website.

“A well-designed website opens endless possibilities for marketing, spreading awareness, and securing sponsorships.”

“It enhances our visibility and improves our chances of receiving grants, driving our organisation’s growth and success,” added Ho.

Since its incorporation as a not-for-profit, tekFoundation has successfully matched over 20 skilled volunteers with 15 different charities, including Future2 Foundation and Little Wings.
