More at-risk youth across the country will be job-ready, with food rescue organisation, OzHarvest, offering accredited training through one of Australia’s trusted Hospitality training providers.

OzHarvest has announced a national partnership with Allara Learning, a registered training organisation (RTO), to deliver the 18-week bespoke “Nourish” training program, free of charge for vulnerable young people aged 16 to 25, who will graduate with a nationally recognised Certificate II in Cookery

It covers customer service, healthy eating, food safety, sustainability, and fundamental culinary skills, qualifying graduates with a Certificate II in Cookery.

More than 92 per cent of Nourish graduates have found employment or returned to study Allara Learning CEO Andrew Lewis said they were proud to be announced as the National RTO for the Nourish program.

“We are thrilled to offer practical support that helps change the lives of vulnerable young people, by providing them with a nationally recognised qualification, in a caring and supportive environment,” said Lewis.

Allara Learning has been successfully training Nourish students in Sydney and Newcastle, and will now expand into Adelaide.

“Adding Adelaide’s Nourish Program, marks the start of a national partnership with OzHarvest, which we know will go from strength to strength,” said Lewis.

“We are aligned in our mission to create rewarding, lifelong pathways for hospitality employees.”

OzHarvest National Nourish Program Manager Belinda Woollett said it’s a life-changing program.

“The Nourish program is another way OzHarvest provides support to Australians in need.”

Woollett highlighted that not only do Nourish graduates achieve a Certificate II in Cookery, but they also develop new life skills, create great memories, and gain access to job opportunities.

“We are excited to be working with Allara Learning to deliver continuous improvement to our hospitality program for young people who may face barriers to education and employment for a variety of reasons.”
