Indara in partnership with RSPCA Queensland for animal welfare

Started by Yvette & Kate, two Brisbane mums with a passion for sustainable designing, Indara turns old quality timber furniture into incredible hand-restored unique furniture for Australian homes.
“A chance meeting led to the discovery that Australian charities are having to reject furniture donations due to the inability to effectively store and upcycle the furniture,” said Kate.
With a shared focus on sustainability, Indara and RSPCA Queensland are in partnership to create the 3Lives initiative, aiming to provide donated furniture with a second life, and in doing so raising funds for animal welfare, the 3rd life.
“As we are passionate about sustainability, we decided to do something about this to avoid this furniture going straight to landfill.” Kate added.
Many people are amazed at the quality and styling of the upcycled pieces. Each piece can take anywhere between 10 – 20 hours to restore, with the finish coming out better than when they were new.
“We’ve just opened our Brisbane upcycling studio located in Rocklea, where people can come and view our completed furniture, or select a donated piece from our warehouse and work with our team to create a personalised modern piece of furniture for their home.” said Yvette.
Indara also restores your own furniture, giving a new lease of life on a family heirloom.
“Every piece is unique. Customers love that they can select bespoke colours, handles, hinges, and make modifications. We can turn old TV stands into drink cabinets, wardrobes into cat runs, or simply update colours to compliment your home design,” Kate added.
Supporting animal welfare
“It’s great to be involved in a business that is not only helping stop furniture going into landfill, but to also to be raising funds for a great charity like RSPCA Queensland to support Animal welfare” said Yvette, a former veterinary nurse and dog trainer.
Darren Maier RSPCA Queensland CEO expressed excitement about the 3Lives initiative.
“With this exciting new partnership, shoppers can not only feel good sustainably shopping at Indara, but also being able to give back to animals in need with a portion of their 3Lives furniture purchase donated to RSPCA Queensland” said Darren.
