Community Housing Limited

Community Housing Limited celebrates three decades of unwavering dedication to easing the burden of housing insecurity.

Established in 1993, CHL has emerged as a pioneering force in the affordable housing sector, providing social and affordable housing solutions, and addressing housing needs both locally and globally.

Since its inception, CHL has been at the forefront of creating affordable housing options and instilling confidence in the housing sector in Australia. Under the visionary leadership of its recently late Managing Director, Steve Bevington, CHL has consistently demonstrated a steadfast commitment to delivering quality, accessible housing solutions to individuals and families in need of housing.

As CHL celebrates its 30-year anniversary, it also honours Steve’s remarkable legacy and his unwavering commitment to affordable housing.

Over the past three decades under Steve’s guidance, CHL has achieved numerous milestones, including expanding its operations into six countries, managing a portfolio of over 12,000 properties nationally, and establishing partnerships with over 650 organisations across public, private, and nonprofit sectors making it a trusted partner of choice.

With a workforce of over 400 employees and having trained over 800 people in the past two decades, the organisation’s commitment to diversity, training, and employment has empowered communities and created inclusive environments where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive.

Additionally, CHL’s dedication to Indigenous communities, accessibility, and sustainability has earned it recognition from esteemed organisations such as the Housing Industry Association, AHI, Delfin Lendlease, and the United Nations Association of Australia to name a few.

As Steve was approaching his retirement at the end of June this year, management of the CHL Group has been transitioning from Steve to Danny Dracic, their incoming CEO, over the past year.

Danny will now fully step into this position, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to CHL’s vision and values.

Supported by the CHL Board and the Boards of its subsidiaries, Danny and the Executive Leadership team stand united and are well-placed to navigate the challenges of the coming months, remaining steadfast in their mission to honour and carry forward Steve’s legacy.

“I am deeply grateful for the trust and confidence placed in me by the board, staff, and partners to carry forward the legacy of this great organisation,” said Dracic.

“Together, we look forward to continuing to serve our customers and communities, increasing housing options and making a positive impact.”

Dracic added that their 30-year anniversary is a testament to the dedication and passion of our staff, customers, partners, and stakeholders who have supported their mission every step of the way.

“We are proud to have assisted over a million individuals, making a tangible difference in their lives and communities.”

Looking ahead, CHL remains committed to its mission of expanding access to safe, affordable housing for everyone.

With over 17,000 customers currently benefiting from CHL’s services and a pipeline to manage 22,000 homes within the next five years, CHL is poised to make an even greater impact in the years to come.
