Anything’s possABLE with the NDIS and IDEAS

The Information on Disability Education and Awareness Services (IDEAS) will be exploring all things NDIS at its annual information Expo being held in Penrith on the 24th-25th July. Through the 2015 theme of Power and Superpowers, IDEAS will show people with a disability and their carers, and the wider communities of the Western Sydney, Nepean and Blue Mountains regions, that anything is possABLE with the NDIS.

The 2015 IDEAS possABLE Expo will mark the beginning of the NDIS rollout in New South Wales for 0-17 year olds with a disability, their families and carers, however the information and fun doesn’t end there. Those above 17 with a disability are encouraged to come along to find out what the NDIS will mean for them when the rollout begins for their age groups in the future.

Andrew Daddo with be the MC for the two day event and will facilitate a panel discussion on ‘Dreams v Reality’ as well as provide his usual warmth and candor. The keynote speaker for 2015 is Rachel Callander, a New Zealand photographer, author and mother of a daughter with disabilities, who will talk about how her own experience inspired her to begin ‘The Superpower Baby Project’, a celebratory photographic art book.

Participants are encouraged to come along dressed as their favourite superhero or superpower for two days packed full of fun. With the artist curated ‘Rave Room’, Reverse Garbage’s creative workshops, dirt bike riding and a range of exhibitors, the 2015 IDEAS possABLE Expo has something for everyone.

“We always like to have a fun, playful atmosphere at the IDEAS Expo,” says IDEAS Executive Officer, Diana Palmer, “However, this year’s possABLE Expo is going to be super fun, with people playing with the theme of Power and Superpowers through dress-up and creative workshops and also being empowered through their knowledge of the NDIS and the personal power it will encourage them to use.”
