White Ribbon Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation that focuses on making women’s safety a man’s issue too. It engages men to stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women. According to Davies, “We work to provide the strategies and tools that engage men in this unique, national, primary prevention campaign.”
Starting her career as a social science teacher, Davies moved into national social policy, pursuing her ambition to be part of driving social change. Over the past four years Libby has quadrupled income and has engaged 2,000 male White Ribbon ambassadors.
“It is an honour to be awarded this recognition,” said Davies. “Being recognised for my work over many years, and more recently as CEO of White Ribbon, is a reflection of my deep commitment to working to enhance the wellbeing of our community, achieving gender equality and driving cultural change.”
The Telstra Award judges commented that Davies is a natural leader whose passion and communication skills are driving impact in the community.
As the NSW state category winner, she will progress to the national finals held in Melbourne on the 18th of November.
