Purpose Expands Senior Leadership Team

Purpose

Social impact organisation Purpose has announced the appointment of Andrea De Almeida to Head of Innovation & Partnerships, APAC. In this newly created role based in Melbourne, Andrea will help organisations – corporates, nonprofits and philanthropies – harness people power and storytelling to create social change and shift public policy.

De Almeida will partner with senior leaders including Chris Cooper, Senior Director and Head of Office, to bolster the agency’s client roster. This move comes shortly after Simon Goff was appointed Chief Operating Officer, strengthening the company’s global presence in the APAC region.

“Andrea joins the team at a pivotal time to further extend our impact tackling some of the region’s most critical issues. Her experience working with leaders to drive positive impact and experience for evidence-based policy change will add a huge amount of value to the work we do at Purpose.” said APAC Head of Office, Chris Cooper.

Andrea brings 20 years of social impact leadership and innovation across a range of sectors. Previously CEO of B-Lab ANZ, Andrea has a wealth of knowledge about embedding social and environmental sustainability across all aspects of business – building a movement of people using business as a force for good. Prior to B Lab, she was a Director of Venture Philanthropy at Social Ventures Australia (SVA), where she led teams to partner with philanthropy, corporate Australia and non-profits to test innovative solutions to tackle long-term unemployment.

“I’m thrilled to join the Purpose team” said Andrea. “I’m committed to changing how organisations work and do business to ensure the future wellbeing of communities and the sustainability of our planet, and Purpose is the perfect place to make that happen. I’m looking forward to working with the team to continue making an impact that matters.”

Since its inception in New York over a decade ago, Purpose experienced organic growth among an impressive client base across corporates, non-profits, and philanthropies; Capgemini recently acquired the organisation. City of Sydney, Lifeline International, Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Sunrise Project, ACF, Save the Children and Paul Ramsay Foundation are some of the forward-thinking companies, non-profits, and philanthropies that partner with Purpose. Notable recent work includes
creating a global campaign with the United Nations called Verified, which works to fight COVID-19 misinformation by flooding the Internet with science, solutions, and solidarity; establishing a new movement of Islamic leaders tackling climate change in Indonesia; and partnering with Reset Australia to tackle digital threats to democracy.
