New Chairman for CSIRO

Simon McKeon has been appointed Chairman of the CSIRO Board. He succeeds Dr John Stocker, who completed his term as Chairman on 27 June 2010.

McKeon has experience in a range of public and private sector organisations and is currently the Executive Chairman of the Melbourne office at Macquarie Group.

McKeon is also the founding President of the Australian Takeovers Panel, Chair of MS Research Australia, Chairman of Business for Millennium Development, Director of VisionFund International, Director of the Global Poverty Project and Director of Red Dust Role Models.
McKeon will take up his position for five years from 28 June 2010.

Opportunity International Australia takes new director

Former Macquarie Banker Steve Robertson has been named Donor Relations Director of Opportunity International Australia, a non-profit organisation that uses a business approach to solve the problem of poverty.

Robertson has 20 years of experience in the Australian and global financial services sector, having worked with global investment managers such as Citibank, JP Morgan and Rothschild, primarily in capital raising and client relations roles, and most recently, as an Executive Director with Macquarie Bank.

President elect for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has appointed Professor Claire Jackson as President-elect.

Professor Jackson is a GP in Brisbane and a General Practice Professor at the University of Queensland.

She has been chair of the RACGP Council and the RACGP Queensland Faculty. She has been involved in health reform in many areas, serving on the National Primary Care Strategy Expert Advisory Group and providing a commissioned paper for the National Health and Hospital Reform Commission.
