The event was attended by a range of senior executives and researchers from NFP organisations all around the country.
The day’s presentations focused on the value of rigorous research, reporting measurable programme outcomes, philanthropy, evaluation processes as well as translating research and policy into practice.
Key speakers for day one included David McNamara, CEO of Foodbank; Chris Wootton, Philanthropic Services Manager at Philanthropy Australia; and Associate Professor Jane Burns, CEO of Young and Well Cooperative Research Centre.
Margie Ware, CEO of Boab Health Services, commented that, “I’m from Broome, so to have representation from different sectors and different states is very beneficial. It creates an energy – it’s very motivating to go back and try new things.”
Salote Scharr, Senior Research Officer at Boystown and workshop leader, also praised the conference. “With our sector, we need to share learnings so we can better assist our client groups. It’s good to see how others put research into practice, and how this impacts funding,” she said at the event.
