COVID-19: Aust online funding platform to waive fees for campaigns

Australia’s online fundraising platform is removing all fees on personal fundraising pages effective immediately.

Mycause, Australia’s only 100% owned and operated fundraising platform, has taken action in response to the growing need for financial support and assistance following the devastating bushfires and concerns around COVID-19.

From 9 am 18th March 2020, all personal fundraising pages created for a person or project will not incur a platform fee.

“We feel the pain of many Australians right now with so much anxiety and uncertainty,” says Tania Burstin, founder and managing director. “We want to make sure that 100% of every dollar donated to a personal crowdfunding campaign goes directly to them.”

A flood of fundraising pages has been started on mycause, from comedians who have had to cancel upcoming Melbourne Comedy Festival shows to at-risk people crowdfunding for their medical costs.

“We know how much of a difference the extra 2.5% platform fee makes in some cases,” says Adam Taia, mycause’s Marketing Manager. “We hope the extra funds in their accounts will alleviate some of their stresses during this uncertain time.”

The change in fee structure is set to be permanent moving forward.

mycause is also the only platform that can offer tax-deductible personal fundraising. All Australians wanting to use this service should contact mycause via the website mycause.com.au

Mycause helped raise millions of dollars for charities in the recent bushfire disaster and has been at the forefront of personal crowdfunding to help Australian families with disasters including Dreamworld, Bourke Street and more.
