The funding is part of the new Greater Charitable Foundation, which was recently established.
CEO of the Greater Charitable Foundation Anne Long said the foundation will be looking to fund projects or programs that have an opportunity for the involvement of Greater Building Society staff.
The Greater Building Society launched the foundation, providing an initial allocation of $1 million to be distributed within the first year. The Greater Building Society will continue to fund the foundation on an ongoing basis.
The foundation will make grants to charitable organisations that are based in Australia with Deductible Gift Recipient and Tax Concession Charity status, and that make a difference to the lives of Australians.
