AICD announces scholarships for NFP leaders

The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) is offering 140 governance scholarships for leaders of small not-for-profit organisations across Australia.

Specifically designed for organisations with less than $2 million turnover, the scholarships support leaders to attend the AICD’s highly-regarded NFP Foundations of Directorship program.

The scholarships form part of the AICD’s strong commitment to the NFP sector. With a majority of our members involved in the governance of NFPs across Australia, the AICD continues to provide free resources to this vital sector including the recent publication of our updated Not-for-profit Governance Principles– a resource providing a benchmark for leaders operating not-for-profits (NFPs).

In announcing these scholarships, Angus Armour, Managing Director and CEO of the AICD, reaffirmed the importance of the sector and its governance to the community.

“Not-for-profits remain a vital contributor to our economy and society,” he said.

“Given the financial constraints faced by many NFP organisations it is essential that the AICD provides scholarships each year to attend our programs.”

“With rising community expectations and an increasingly complex operating environment, good governance is vital to the future of the sector. These scholarships will further support NFP leaders in steering their organisations to success.”

Applications for the AICD Not-for-Profit Scholarships program are now open and close on Thursday 20 June 2019.

Scholarship applicants must be directors, managers or prospective directors of NFP organisations. The application process is being managed by the Australian Scholarship Foundation (ASF), who have over 10 years experience helping organisations provide training opportunities to NFP’s.
