AMES Australia releases 2025 Social Impact Report: Jobs and housing marked as crucial factors that result in migrant success in Australia.

AMES Australia, a leading migrant and refugee settlement agency, has released its 2025 Social Impact Report, highlighting the crucial role secure housing and employment play in successful integration for newcomers to Australia. The report details the agency’s achievements in guiding refugees and migrants towards these goals.

“Our work over the past year has taken on even greater significance,” said Cath Scarth, CEO of AMES Australia, acknowledging the unprecedented global displacement driven by conflict. “We are committed to providing comprehensive support, from the initial stages of settlement through to achieving independence, for refugees, migrants, and multicultural communities across Australia,” Ms Scarth said.

AMES Australia’s tailored approach focuses on equipping newcomers with the tools and resources they need to thrive in their new home. In the 2023-24 financial year, the agency successfully assisted nearly 1,700 migrants and refugees in finding stable employment, with 44% of skilled migrants and refugees securing jobs within just three months of receiving support. Furthermore, 75% of all jobseekers reported satisfaction with their placements.

“Thanks to AMES’ expertise and understanding of my professional background, I was able to secure a position that perfectly aligns with my skills and aspirations,” shared Ivan Jekov, a migrant jobseeker who received assistance from AMES Australia. “The AMES staff’s ability to listen, assess my situation, and offer tailored advice in just one meeting was truly commendable,” Jekov added.

AMES Australia’s dedication extends beyond employment services. The report details how the agency supported over 1,350 newly arrived families in securing long-term, appropriate housing. Additionally, AMES Australia delivered nearly 20,500 information sessions on various topics crucial for settlement, including healthcare, social support systems, transportation, legal rights, and financial management.

The report also highlights the agency’s success in supporting the educational needs of newcomers. Nearly 1,800 children received help enrolling in school, and over 5,500 migrants and refugees participated in accredited and non-accredited courses, with a satisfaction rate of 78%. Notably, 92% of AMES English language students demonstrated improvement in their language, literacy, or numeracy skills. Furthermore, among Vocational Education and Training (VET) course participants, 80% rated their experience highly, with 92% reporting that the courses helped them achieve their employment goals and 87% expressing satisfaction with their jobs.

AMES Australia’s MyAMES Chat app, an innovative AI-powered communication coaching tool, has benefitted over 1,500 students by providing employment-focused language coaching and interview practice.

AMES Australia’s 2025 Social Impact Report serves as a testament to the agency’s unwavering commitment to empowering migrants and refugees to build fulfilling and impactful lives within Australia’s multicultural society.
