The Macquarie Group Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Macquarie Group, has launched the 2016 David Clarke Social Innovation Fellowship in Australia and is inviting non-profit CEOs to apply.

The 2016 fellowship recipient will receive a grant of up to $20,000 (payable to their NFP organisation) to cover airfares, accommodation and other costs associated with a research trip/s (proposed by each applicant) to visit and research best practices in social innovation around the world.

The fellowship is presented biennially to CEOs of NFP organisations in the aim to promote and reward ideas that address social needs.

“We recognise that innovation is essential for successfully addressing long-term community problems and we hope that the fellowship will cement the winning organisations abilities to develop their program further and motivate other non-profits to consider how they can innovatively deliver services in the community,” said Lisa George Global Head Macquarie Group Foundation.

Joint Australian Fellowship winners in 2014 were Paul Edginton CEO SYC and Scott Harris CEO Beacon Foundation.

Both CEOs used their grants to visit organisations in the UK and Europe to study successful youth employment models.

The David Clarke Social Innovation Fellowship was established in 2012 in memory of Macquarie Group Foundation’s founding Chairman David Clarke.

Applications close on 9 September 2016, with the recipient announced in November 2016.
