Kevin Barrow officially commences his new role as Chief Executive of The Benevolent Society on 14 October.
Barrow brings more than two decades of leadership experience across the healthcare and not-for-profit sectors. Most recently, he served as CEO of Sydney North Health Network (Northern Sydney PHN), where he led system-wide change in primary healthcare through collaboration, community empowerment and strengthening safety nets for vulnerable people.
Previously, Barrow was CEO of the Butterfly Foundation, where he spearheaded major initiatives, including the establishment of Wandi Nerida, Australia’s first residential treatment centre for eating disorders, and the national rollout of the Butterfly Body Bright program in primary schools. His career also includes senior executive roles with Philips Australia & New Zealand and Becton Dickinson Pty Ltd, as well as governance positions across health and medical technology organisations.

Kevin’s leadership will help consolidate our current services while supporting growth and diversification. His people-focused approach is a natural fit for our organisation’s values and the diverse communities we support.”
Meanwhile, Barrow said that he’s honoured to be joining The Benevolent Society, which he describes as an organisation with a proud history of delivering person-centred services, influencing social change and ultimately doing well by doing good.
“I look forward to working with the board, executive team and Benevolent staff to continue building on the great work already underway, and to help shape the next chapter of the organisation’s journey,” he said.
The Benevolent Society also acknowledges Stefan Duvenhage, who has served as Interim Chief Executive during the transition.
“It has been a privilege to serve as Interim CEO during this important period. I look forward to supporting Kevin to ensure a smooth handover and to help Benevolent continue its momentum in this exciting new chapter,” Duvenhage said.
