Social Ventures Australia welcomes new CEO

SVA has announced the appointment of new CEO, Suzie Riddell, to oversee its next stage of change within the sector

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) has appointed a new CEO to oversee its next stage of evolution within the social purpose landscape.

New CEO, Suzie Riddell, has held several roles within the sector and has fronted diverse projects and initiatives that have driven internal and external ventures. In 2017, Riddell was named a Young Executive of the Year by the Australian Financial Review.

SVA Chair, Paul Robertson, said: “Suzie is the right person to lead SVA through its next stage of evolution and contribution to the Australian social purpose landscape.

“Her strategic thinking, collaboration and leadership skills stood out amongst a very strong field of candidates and her deep commitment to SVA’s mission is inspiring. We all look forward to working alongside her in her new role as CEO.”

Riddell currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer at SVA. Prior to joining SVA, Riddell was a consultant at Bain & Company, where she worked across a variety of sectors and projects, including customer experience and the financial services sector.

During her time at SVA, Riddell has led projects and initiatives for a wide range of not-for-profits, corporate and government clients. She has driven internal strategy and business planning, as well as spearheaded the growth of start-up social ventures.

Riddell has also served on a number of not-for-profit boards, including Non-Executive Director of YWCA NSW and Holdsworth Community Centre and Services. She currently works as a Director of the Observership Program.

Of her new appointment, Riddell said she felt honoured about the opportunity.

“For Australia to become a place where all people and communities thrive, we must work hard to remove the barriers to participation and learning that exists throughout our social systems,” Riddell said.

“I’ve seen the incredible impact that can be achieved through collaborative, evidence informed initiatives that address these barriers and I look forward to helping drive more change in this way.”
