Rainbow Giving Australia launches Sweat with Pride fundraiser

The iconic Kiwi fundraiser heads to Australia to fight LGBTQIA+ discrimination with perspiration.

Rainbow Giving Australia has recently announced the launch of Sweat with Pride, a bold new national fundraising campaign challenging Australians to get sweaty for a good cause during Pride Month in June.

LGBTQIA+ Australians experience the highest rates of suicidality of any population, and less than half of LGBTQIA+ students feel safe at school. That’s why Rainbow Giving Australia is launching the Sweat with Pride campaign – where getting sweaty means saving lives.

Inspired by the successful Aotearoa/New Zealand initiative, Sweat with Pride dares individuals, teams and workplaces to move their bodies for 21 minutes a day throughout June while raising vital funds for LGBTQIA+ health and wellbeing. Whether it’s a morning jog, a living room dance session or a lunchtime walk, every drop of sweat helps fight discrimination and fund change.

“Sweat with Pride is all about coming together – moving our bodies, celebrating Pride, and supporting LGBTQIA+ communities who still face enormous barriers to health and equality,” said Rainbow Giving Australia CEO Em Scott. “We’re excited to bring this joyful, powerful fundraiser to Australia for the first time.”

In its inaugural year, funds raised will support Rainbow Giving Australia’s community grant programs, along with leading LGBTQIA+ health and youth organisations ACON and Minus18.

Since its launch in Aotearoa/New Zealand in 2020, Sweat with Pride has inspired over 10,000 Kiwis and raised over NZD$1.8 million for rainbow communities. This year, the Australian campaign aims to raise more than $450,000 from over 3,500 sweaty participants.

Rainbow Giving is inviting participants to sign up at sweatwithpride.com.au, form teams and choose a fabulous drag ‘trainer’ personality to cheer them on throughout the month. The campaign also includes incentive prizes, such as limited edition Sweat with Pride socks, pins, tote bags and caps, access to the 30 Days of Les Mills+ online platform, and a chance to win one of three Les Mills Accelerated Training home sets.
