Philanthropy Australia Philanthropic Leader Awards – make your nomination!

Philanthropy addresses the gap between government and private funding for not-for-profits (NFPs). Approximately 5,000 foundations give between $500 million and $1 billion per annum as philanthropic donations. Individuals also donated just over $2.2 billion during 2010-11.
With government funding cuts, philanthropy is becoming more necessary than ever before. The national peak body, Philanthropy Australia is raising awareness and recognising inspiring and emerging leaders in this space with the inaugural Philanthropy Australia Philanthropic Leader Awards.
The Awards categories:
Philanthropy Leader of the Year Award will be awarded to a philanthropic leader whose work during 2013 was visionary, high impact and transformative. This leader’s work also needs to embody the qualities that define philanthropic excellence including creativity, innovation, commitment and courage.
The Emerging Philanthropy Leader of the Year Award honours an Australian philanthropic leader who has worked in philanthropy for five years or less. This emerging leader will have made a significant impact and critical difference within the sector.
Philanthropy Australia’s CEO Louise Walsh said, “Australians often forget to take a moment to applaud achievements. While our philanthropic sector may be small by international standards, it is growing rapidly. These awards are a moment of celebration of the vision and inspiration by individuals.”
Nominees will be selected by an honorary selection panel led by Philanthropy Australia Council member Timothy Fairfax AC.
Submissions will be reviewed by the Selection Panel in mid-August and winners announced at the 2014 Philanthropy Australia National Conference on Tuesday 2 September in Melbourne.
Nomination requirements:
- Anyone is eligible to be nominated
