Paul Ramsay Foundation welcomes Chris Last as new CFO

foundation appointment

Newly appointed PRF CFO Chris Last brings over 30 years of extensive experience in finance, spanning the for-purpose sector and listed corporate environments both in Australia and internationally.

Chris Last has a distinguished career with a specialisation in finance and accounting, treasury, acquisitions and mergers and risk management disciplines. His deep understanding of financial strategy and operational excellence will be invaluable as the Paul Ramsay Foundation (PRF) continues working towards a future where people and places have what they need to thrive.

Before joining PRF, Last held the position of General Manager – Corporate Services at Relationships Australia (NSW) Ltd, a leading counselling service dedicated to supporting safe and respectful relationships.

He also brings a wealth of experience from ASX-listed companies, having served as CFO of Blackmores, Symbio and NetComm.

Furthermore, Last has a strong connection to the health and research sectors, previously holding the roles of CFO and Company Secretary at the Heart Research Institute, operating across their research laboratories in Newtown and the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney.

He holds qualifications as a Chartered Management Accountant (UK) and is a qualified Corporate Treasurer and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

PRF CEO Professor Kristy Muir said Last’s impressive financial expertise and commitment to organisations with purpose made him an exceptional addition to PRF’s leadership team.

“We’re delighted to have Chris joining PRF as we continue to invest in, build and influence the conditions needed to stop disadvantage in Australia,” Muir said. “His broad and impressive career, particularly his experience across both the for-purpose and corporate sectors, will be instrumental in guiding our financial strategy and ensuring the continued impact of our work.”

Meanwhile, Last said he looks forward to contributing to PRF’s work in creating positive social change.

“I’m excited to work with the team to ensure the foundation‘s financial strength supports its ambitious goals and maximises its impact across Australia.”

Last’s appointment has been effective since 19 May.
