About Health Justice Australia
Health Justice Australia is a national charity established in 2016 as a centre of excellence for health justice partnership. Health Justice Australia supports the expansion and effectiveness of health justice partnerships through:
• Knowledge and its translation: developing evidence and translating that evidence into knowledge that is valued by practitioners, researchers, policy-makers and funders.
• Building capability: supporting practitioners to work collaboratively, including through brokering, mentoring and facilitating partnerships.
• Driving systems change: connecting the experience of people coming through health justice partnerships, and their practitioners, with opportunities for lasting systems change through reforms to policy settings, service design and funding.
We are committed to an inclusive work environment.
Advancing HJA’s work to achieve our intended impact, we seek to work with people whose skills and behaviours are aligned to our values, culture and strategy. Core competencies that reflect the skills and behaviours we seek in prospective HJA team members include:
• Commitment to learning as a key mechanism to support impact and effectiveness
• Ability to collaborate
• Ability to communicate effectively, both to specialist and general audiences
• Willingness to make use of digital innovation to support organisational effectiveness and efficiency
• Ability to exercise judgment in decision-making.
We work to identify training and development needs to support our people to develop these and other competencies over time.
We are recruiting for 3 exciting roles at Health Justice Australia! I have outlined below a brief about each role, however please click on the “apply link” to visit our website and view further information regarding each role, selection criteria, application process or for contact details if you would like to discuss these opportunities further.
1. Research Evaluation Lead
This is an exciting new role supporting the capacity of health justice partnerships to evaluate and learn from their work. Working with HJA’s Research Director, this position will undertake research and evaluation projects and associated tasks. Areas of focus include developing and testing measurable outcomes for HJPs; and collaborating with other researchers to explore the value and impact of integrating service delivery across health and legal sectors to improve outcomes for those vulnerable to complex need. This position will also support Health Justice Australia’s continuing work to review and report on the profile of health justice partnerships across Australia.
2. Policy Advocacy Lead
The Policy Advocacy Lead will work with the Strategic Innovation Manager and the CEO to develop and implement Health Justice Australia’s advocacy strategy to advance the systemic impact of our work and that of the health justice partnerships we support. Activities include development of policy content that translates research and practice evidence into feasible solutions for government, health and human services and philanthropy; and building and maintaining strategic relationships within and beyond government to advance our policy solutions.
3. Practice Development Lead
This is an exciting opportunity to work with Health Justice Australia to convene and support the practice development of our national network of health justice practitioners and services.
4. Expressions of interest are also welcome
Do you have expertise in more than one of these roles? Are you interested in innovating with us as we explore how best to achieve our systems-based approach to improving health and justice outcomes? Then we want to hear from you. As health Justice Australia is recruiting for several roles concurrently, we invite expressions of interest from people with the skills and capability to work across more than one role.
Expressions of interest should be emailed to hr@justiceconnect.org.au with “HJA EOI” as the subject and should include:
• a proposal outlining what elements of which roles you are expressing interest in and how you would envisage a combined role working (three pages max);
• a letter addressing your skills, experience and capabilities against the essential and desirable criteria that you are addressing (two pages max); and
• a CV (three pages max).
Recruitment process:
Health Justice Australia uses psychometric assessments in our recruitment and professional development processes, supporting our commitment towards data and diversity in our decision-making and to getting the best out of our people for our intended impact. While we do not rely on assessments as the sole basis for our decision-making, we value the contribution they make as an independent source of data beyond interviews and references. If you have applied for a role with us, you may be asked to complete an assessment. Found out more about how we use these assessments on our careers page.
Applications close 11:59pm, Sunday 05 September 2021.
