Give Happy, Live Happy: It’s National Volunteer Week

The week-long event celebrates the contribution made by more than 6 million Australian volunteers who support not-for-profit organisations around the nation.

“Research shows that people are happier when they volunteer as they enjoy giving back and making their community a better place,” said Jon Dee, the Founder of DoSomething and its volunteering website.

“But it’s not just the volunteers who are happy when they do their bit… The wonderful work done by volunteers helps to make our communities happier too.”

National Volunteer Week will comprise events in each state to thank volunteers for their efforts and encourage new volunteers to take part in community initiatives.

“The web portal has a range of resources for organisations and individuals to help celebrate National Volunteer Week,” said Brett Williamson OAM, CEO of Volunteering Australia.

Beyond Bank Australia is again partnering with Volunteering Australia to present National Volunteer Week.

“National Volunteer Week provides a great opportunity for us all to say thanks to the many volunteers who help make our communities stronger, and let them know their efforts and commitment are appreciated – it’s also an appropriate time to encourage more people to get involved,” said Beyond Bank Australia’s General Manager Community Development, Peter Rutter.
