Huma Charity Challenge, the fundraising division of World Expeditions, will hike with world leading adventurer Heather Hawkins. Heather will lead Huma’s 11 day Open Adventure Challenge along the iconic Kokoda Trail departing 17 August 2020.
Adventurous Spirit author and ovarian cancer survivor Heather Hawkins, has completed six half marathons, seven ultra marathons and 22 full marathons, including the arduous seven marathons across seven continents in seven days. In addition to being an everyday mum, Heather is a tireless campaigner for cancer research and will be an inspirational guide for those undertaking the Huma Kokoda Open Adventure Challenge next year.
Highlights of the Heather Hawkins Kokoda Open Adventure Challenge include nine full days trekking through the Papua New Guinean jungle of the Owen Stanley Ranges following the footsteps of famous Australians and their Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels, being immersed in local village life and culture, staying near traditional villages and in secluded jungle camps, gain insight into the history of the trail through your experienced Kokoda guides, attend a moving dawn service at Brigade Hill battle site, and after the 96km trail conclusion, leave with a feeling of accomplishment and a unique understanding of what the diggers achieved under horrific circumstances.
Huma Charity Challenge supports fundraisers through the entire process from providing fundraising tips, suggesting a suitable training regime, outlining gear requirements for adventure challenges, managing all travel arrangements and, and providing encouragement along the way.
