Michelle Trute, Chief Executive Officer, Diabetes Australia – Queensland

Michelle Trute has led Diabetes Queensland into a new phase and was recently awarded the Australian Institute of Management Award for Management Excellence in the NFP sector. Trute was instrumental in the adoption of a contemporary strategic plan that resulted in key performance indicators being met and exceeded over a three-year period, and 96.5 per cent of staff reporting that they understood how their work contributed to the delivery of the organisation’s strategic plan.

At Third Sector Expo 2013 she will be advising NFPs how they can create a contemporary, accessible strategic plan that has been written in consultation with the appropriate parties and is suitable for the environment in which it will be executed.

Lifeline Australia uses technology to provide suicide prevention and crisis support. The organisation responds to approximately 550,000 calls and 25,000 online chats every year, with a large number devoted to suicide, self-harm and other serious issues. Technology plays a crucial role in making sure the system works and help-seekers are provided with utmost quality service.
