Redkite is delighted to welcome Justin Stevens to its Board of Directors.

Justin is a highly regarded media executive and has been ABC’s Director of News since April 2022. Justin joined the ABC in 2006 and was previously Executive Producer of the ABC’s national nightly current affairs flagship program, 7.30.

Prior to this he worked as a producer on programs such as 7.30 and Four Corners.

Throughout Justin’s career, he has championed the art of fearless and independent storytelling and seen firsthand how digital transformation has changed the way audiences consume and react to information.

This experience will enhance Redkite’s ability to tell the real stories of families facing childhood cancer and add enormous value in support of the continued digitisation and scaling of Redkite’s childhood cancer support services.

Justin already knows the impact of Redkite’s work, given his own lived experience of childhood cancer, which saw him personally access a number of Redkite’s family support services.

“Redkite was an incredible support to my family when our son Harry underwent treatment for leukemia the first time around and when he relapsed,” said Justin.

“In a sensitive and unintrusive way, Redkite was always there for us and provided support that would not otherwise have been there.”

Justin also added that among many other things, their work supporting the mental health of kids and their families is second to none.

“It helps fill an important gap in care that results from the understandable necessity of prioritising the medical treatment itself over everything else.”

“I’m honoured to be able to play a small role in giving back to the organisation in return for the awesome support they provided my family and many others.”

Redkite CEO, Monique Keighery also added that they are delighted to welcome Justin to Redkite’s dedicated and generous volunteer Board of Directors.

“Justin’s extensive media experience and exposure to digital transformation, together with his lived experience of childhood cancer, will be invaluable in helping to tell the Redkite story and in delivering more digitised support services to children and families in need.”
