Domino’s registered charity Give for Good has announced a one-year partnership with PCYC Queensland’s program, a driver mentor program designed to support learner drivers who do not have access to a supervisor or registered vehicle to complete their logbook hours.
As a delivery-based Company with more than 60 years experience delivering pizzas to customers, Domino’s is committed to ensuring everyone on the road is educated in safe driving – something that PCYC Queensland aims to do through the Braking the Cycle program.
In addition to providing a vehicle and mentor to assist learner drivers in gaining their licence, PCYC Queensland aims to provide young people across Queensland with increased employment opportunities, driver education, and connection with their local communities.
During the one-year partnership, Give for Good has committed $40,000 to Braking the Cycle to provide fuel for 13 of the program’s locations across the state, from Cairns in Far North Queensland, to towns in Central Queensland, including Rockhampton and Gladstone, all the way down to the Gold Coast.
With thousands of Domino’s own team members on the roads every day, driving both cars and scooters, Give for Good General Manager Bronwyn Spencer said the charity understands the importance of ensuring drivers are educated in safe driving practices, and through supporting Braking the Cycle, hope to enable even more young Australians to have a safe driver education.
“Through this partnership with PCYC Queensland’s Braking the Cycle program, Give for Good can help make a real difference in ensuring more youth across Queensland have the opportunity to gain a driver’s licence to become safe and educated drivers with a bright future ahead of them.
“Statistics show those with a driver’s licence are highly employable, and suited to driver-based roles, so as Domino’s registered charity, we look forward to connecting graduates with their local Domino’s store to help them on their employment journey.”
PCYC Queensland is committed to addressing community needs and positively impacting young people’s lives, and through the Braking the Cycle program, know they can directly contribute to the employability of young people in Queensland said PCYC Queensland Chief Executive Officer Phil Schultz.
“At PCYC Queensland, we are passionate about helping young people succeed in life and know that for around 30 per cent of young people, lack of transport prevents them from attaining employment.
“In gaining a driver’s licence, more young people have a greater opportunity to gain employment and attend higher education. With the support of Give for Good through this partnership, we know together we can help contribute to the success of even more young Queenslanders across the state, and that’s an exciting prospect.”
Give for Good secures much of its funding through Domino’s ‘Round Up for Charity’ initiative. Generous pizza lovers who wish to support Give for Good’s partnership with PCYC Queensland, along with other important Australian-based initiatives, are encouraged to round up their next Domino’s order when paying online.
