OzHarvest has teamed up with Woolworths to encourage Australians to donate money to help those in need this Christmas.
Through the partnership with the supermarket giant, the OzHarvest appeal will assist in delivering food to more than 1,300 charitable agencies who help feed those who are experiencing food insecurity with every customers 50 cent donation.
OzHarvest Founder and CEO, Ronni Kahn, said: “This time of year is usually a cause for celebration and great food, but there are still so many families who will struggle to put a meal on the table this Christmas.
“Thanks to Woolworths and their amazing customers who support the OzHarvest Christmas Appeal, we can ensure good food gets delivered to charities that support those in need.”
Woolworths has partnered with OzHarvest since 2015 to help reduce food waste by providing surplus fresh food from their supermarkets to Aussies who would go without.
Woolworths Supermarket Managing Director, Claire Peters, said: “At Woolworths, we understand that Christmas is a time to focus on family, friends and helping to support the community.”
Last year, the Woolworths OzHarvest Christmas Appeal raised over $1 million for the food rescue organisation, providing two million meals for families in need.
“We encourage our customers to support other Australians and the growing need for hunger relief across the nation, by supporting the Woolworths OzHarvest Christmas Appeal,” Peters said.
“By simply donating 50 cents by purchasing an OzHarvest Christmas Appeal token, we can all make a difference together and play a vital role in helping feed an Australian in need.”
