In 2012, the not-for-profit sector in Australia stands on the threshold of modernisation. Two years ago, the Productivity Commission recommended the modernisation of legal, policy, regulatory and funding frameworks.
The ACNC opens officially on 1 July 2012 nationally, and will assume some of the responsibilities currently vested in the ATO. Though the Commission’s operations and effects are yet to unfold, debate is already lively.
Held in association with Givewell, the Myer Family Company, DMP Asset Management, Star Business Solutions and Third Sector, the forums attract 600 delegates Australia-wide. The forum responds to feedback, rotates its topics and each year it evolves with the spirit of the sector.
This year’s theme is modernisation of the third sector and will examine both the new regulatory environment(s) for many not-for-profits (NFPs) in the sector as well as the enormous innovation that has been driving the sector over the past decade and more.
