National children’s cancer charity Redkite have officially opened applications for their annual Redkite and Coles Dare to Dream Scholarships, a grant empowering young people aged 15 to 24 years to pursue their education, career or life goals that have been put on hold for cancer.

With this year’s applications now open, three young cancer survivors – and former scholarship recipients – are urging other young people who have or have had cancer to get their lives back on track by applying for this initiative, just like they did.

James Marquet (WA) wanted to become a professional rally drive and build his very own car to race in the Western Australian Rally Championships; Shelby Sherritt (VIC) wanted to support disadvantaged communities through art therapy; and Niamh Sullivan (NSW) wanted to work with people and empower them through journalism.

Each of them were able to bring those dreams to life with a little extra boost from Redkite.

“Without the Redkite and Coles Dare to Dream Scholarship, I wouldn’t have the motivation to get to where I am today. It made me realise that my ambition to race wasn’t just a pipe dream, it was something right at my tips of my fingers; I just needed to reach out and grab it,” Marquet said.

Dare to Dream Scholarships close on Monday 5th August.
