Aurora Group and GiveOUT merge to form Rainbow Giving Australia – Raising $1 million for LGBTQIA+ communities across Australia
The Aurora Group and GiveOUT, two leading LGBTQIA+ community funders, have announced a historic merger to form Rainbow Giving Australia. This union brings together the strengths of both organisations, creating a powerful force for positive change within the LGBTQIA+ community.
A Decade of Impact
Over the past 25 years, The Aurora Group and GiveOUT have made significant contributions to the LGBTQIA+ sector. Together, they have raised and distributed millions of dollars to grassroots organisations addressing critical issues such as HIV/AIDS, mental health, and youth homelessness.
In recent years, the two organisations have collaborated on initiatives like the Amplify Pride Fund, which has distributed over $450,000 to LGBTQIA+ projects.
This year, thanks to over $500,000 raised on GiveOUT Day and an additional $500,000 to be granted via the Amplify Pride Fund and Ignite Pride Fund, Rainbow Giving Australia will distribute $1 million to LGBTQIA+ communities across the country.
A Brighter Future for the LGBTQIA+ Community
Rainbow Giving Australia will continue the legacy of its predecessor organisations, offering a one-stop-shop for rainbow funding. This merger will enable the organisation to maximise its impact by:
- Amplifying Community Voices: Empowering grassroots organisations and initiatives.
- Mobilising Resources: Raising significant funds to support LGBTQIA+ causes.
- Driving Innovation: Fostering new ideas and solutions to address community challenges.
“By joining forces, we are amplifying our impact and setting a stronger foundation for the future of our community,” said Em Scott, CEO of Rainbow Giving Australia. “This is about mobilising much-needed funding, but it’s also about unity, and empowering our communities to lead and thrive.”
A Shared Vision for the Future
Leaders in the LGBTQIA+ and philanthropy sectors have expressed their support for Rainbow Giving Australia. Maree Sidey, CEO of Philanthropy Australia, highlighted the importance of this merger in creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Anna Brown, CEO of Equality Australia, also praised the initiative, noting its potential to drive significant social change.
Addressing Ongoing Challenges
Despite significant progress, LGBTQIA+ communities continue to face systemic barriers, particularly trans and gender-diverse individuals, intersex people, and those experiencing intersectional marginalisation. The merger of The Aurora Group and GiveOUT will help address these challenges by providing crucial funding and support.
Rainbow Giving Australia is committed to ensuring that all LGBTQIA+ people have the resources they need to thrive. By combining the strengths of both organisations, Rainbow Giving Australia is poised to make a lasting impact on the LGBTQIA+ community.
