Johnston, who joins Variety from the SMILE Foundation brings with her a wealth of experience in the not-for-profit sector, including nine years with the National Australia Day Council, most recently as National Program Director and Deputy CEO.

Lowitja Institute board appointment, Taylor is Principal of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies. Taylor’s previous roles include CEO of the NSW Aboriginal Housing Office and a Member of the University of Canberra Council.

Anderson, also appointed to the Lowitja Institute board is the Deputy Director and Head of the Iron Metabolism Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute.
