Project managers and executives on TRADIES and AVID Property Group job sites and offices around Australia passed the hard hat around this month, as the company joined the Property Industry Foundation’s Hard Hat Day campaign to raise funds for youth homelessness.

AVID CEO Cameron Holt and Property Industry Foundation CEO Kate Mills lowered their tools at AVID’s flagship apartment project The Rathbone in Sydney’s Surry Hills to raise awareness for youth homelessness.

Australian Institute of Health and Welfare figures show young people aged 15 to 24 presenting on their own, made up 16.5 per cent of people seeking help from specialist homelessness services in NSW between 2020 – 2021.

AVID Property Group is an award-winning Australian developer responsible for a diversified portfolio of residential communities in key growth precincts across Australia.

“Sadly, the number of young people experiencing homelessness is increasing nationally at an alarming rate, and youth homeless doesn’t discriminate between suburbs, or cities or regions.” said AVID CEO Cameron Holt.

AVID is a proud Property Industry Foundation partner for 2022, and this year the company chose to host their Hard Hat Day fundraising event on International Youth Day, Friday 12 August, to further highlight the impact of housing shortage on young people.

According to the Property Industry Foundation, more than 116,000 Australians experience homelessness on any given night, and 42 per cent of Australia’s homeless population are under 25 years old.

“Hard Hat Day is a great opportunity to engage with our industry partners, such as AVID, to raise awareness within their construction teams about the devastating impacts of youth homelessness in Australia and inspire them to join the fight and support our cause,” said Property Industry Foundation CEO Kate Mills.
