Crohn’s & Colitis Australia (CAA) has welcomed the wealth of experience that the new Chief Executive Officer Leanne Raven brings with her to the role.

Chair of the CCA Board, Beata Koropatwa, greeted the appointment, saying she was “delighted” to have Raven take on the role of CEO as the foundation looks at the future of improving the lives of people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBC).

Of the new appointment, Raven said: “I am delighted to be taking on the new challenge as the CEO of Crohn’s & Colitis Australia, winner of 2017 Outstanding Achievement in The Australian Charity Awards.”

Raven has experience in driving strategies for long-term growth and sustainability, a technique she picked up in her previous position as CEO of Red Nose. She is credited for leading the growth of capacity in the NFP sector.

She has been a self-employed strategy and management consultant with executive, non-executive director and senior management experience within primary health, community and human services, education and health professional regulation.

This comes after the previous CEO, Francesca Manglaviti, left the foundation in April. In a statement, CCA said they were committed to finding a suitable replacement.

“During this transition period, it is our priority to find the best individual to lead, while still maintaining a stable and effective organisation,” the statement read.

Raven has been acknowledged for her innovation in the NFP sector as the winner of the 2013 Telstra Business Women’s Awards in Victoria for Business Innovation.

Her qualifications include Science, Business Management, Nursing, Education and Company Directorship and she has been honoured to have been appointed an adjunct Associate Professor with the University of the Sunshine Coast Queensland in 2014.

“I look forward to helping make life more liveable for Australians with Inflammatory Bowel Disease and to drive quality of care for the CCA community by educating, supporting, increasing awareness, advocating and research,” Raven said.
