BlazeAid and Give for Good extends support to disaster-affected communities

BlazeAid

Give for Good announced a new partnership, with the charity joining forces with BlazeAid, a grassroots organisation that helps
rebuild rural communities impacted by natural disasters. BlazeAid works to repair damaged farmlands, fences and other property affected by disasters, with a team of 32,000 dedicated volunteers working behind the scenes to help Aussie farmers rebuild and get back on their feet after disasters, providing support when it is needed the most.

The one-year partnership will see Give for Good donate more than $55,000 to BlazeAid to provide new tools and equipment for eight of the charity’s Combat Ready Trailers. These trailers are the critical piece to BlazeAid’s restoration operations, providing the essential tools to carry out much needed work on Australian farms following natural disasters.

These trailers are deployed across Australia to the organisation’s established basecamps after a natural disaster, to allow volunteers to be equipped and ready to deliver disaster relief as soon as it is needed.

During disasters, Domino’s is proud to provide safe, hot meals to those in need, from emergency workers to local community members. Give for Good’s General Manager Bronwyn Spencer said the charity is proud to support these efforts through this partnership with BlazeAid.

“Sadly, in Australia natural disasters are not an uncommon occurrence, and already this year Queensland and New South Wales have experienced severe flooding, while parts of Western Australia have battled devastating bushfires.

“Through partnering with BlazeAid, we know we can help make a meaningful difference to the rural communities impacted by natural disasters, helping them to rebuild, while letting them know they are not alone during these difficult times.

“Knowing that a number of the farms impacted by the recent flooding had fencing washed away which was only recently repaired from previous disasters is heartbreaking. Through this partnership with BlazeAid, we hope to help our Aussie farmers get back on their feet once more.”

BlazeAid was founded by Victorian farmers, Rhonda and Kevin Butler, following the devastating Black Saturday bushfires back in 2009, after they themselves were among the farmers who experienced loss of property as a result of the disaster, gaining a first-hand understanding of just how important support from charities like BlazeAid and Give for Good is.

“Without fences, a farmer has no stock, livelihood, or income, and this is a position we found ourselves in and we knew we wanted to help make a difference to others experiencing the same loss following a natural disaster.

“It can cost up to $15,000 per kilometre to rebuild essential fencing, and this process in itself can take months. However, BlazeAid can assist farmers in repairing or replacing fencing in just one week.

“This wouldn’t be possible without the support of partners like Give for Good, and as a result of this partnership, we look forward to being able to give more rural and remote Aussie farmers in need a helping hand following natural disasters,” said Butler

Give for Good secures much of its funding through Domino’s ‘Round Up for Charity’ initiative. Generous pizza lovers who wish to support Give for Good’s partnership with BlazeAid, along with other important Australian-based initiatives, are encouraged to round up their next Domino’s order when paying online.
