The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) has announced the 140 recipients of its governance NFP scholarship for leaders of small organisations.
The 140 scholarship recipients, from right across Australia, will attend the AICD’s highly-regarded NFP Foundations of Directorship program.
This year a total of 734 applications were considered, which is almost a 50 per cent increase on last year.
Allocation of scholarship are 30 in New South Wales, 30 in Victoria, 20 in Queensland, 20 in West Australia, 18 in South Australia, 2 in Northern Terrirory, 12 in Tasmania, 8 in Australian Capital Territory.
Scholarships were offered to individuals associated with organisations with less than $2 million turnover.
Successful applicants are from a wide variety of sectors including sport, the arts, regional community groups and tourism as well as disability, veterans, homelessness, health and child care services.
The scholarships form part of the AICD’s strong commitment to the NFP sector.
“We continue to provide free resources to this vital sector including our updated Not-for-profit Governance Principles,” Angus Armour, Managing Director and CEO of the AICD said as he congratulated the 140 scholarship recipients.
“NFP organisations deliver vital services to communities across Australia. I’m proud that the AICD can support NFP leaders improve the governance of their organisation through these scholarships and free resources”, he said.
