Melbourne-based B-Corp agency, Today, has launched Daybreak, a five-year program that will see it extend strategic design support to Australian not-for-profit organisations, with a goal to accelerate innovation and create positive change across five identified impact areas.
Reflecting Today’s commitment to improving the experience of care in Australia, the first round of the Daybreak initiative will be open to organisations with early stage innovation concepts that seek to “reimagine care”.
Successful ideas will receive in-kind strategic design services up to the value of $160,000 with a co-contribution amount, partnering with Today to bring impactful ideas to life.
“The need for rapid reform in our aged care system is well understood, as it is in our mental health care systems, and many other services that offer care as a core service,” said Adam Morris, Co-founder and Chief Design Officer at Today.
“We want to see higher quality, more efficient provision of care; and for the experience of accessing and receiving it to be fair, dignified, and easy to understand and navigate,” Morris said.
In alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #3, Good Health and Wellbeing, Today are looking to hear from organisations with early stage concepts that seek to: Improve access to care services for those in need, improve the experience of those receiving care, increase the happiness and productivity of carers, improve organisations that manage or deliver care and increase incidence and quality of co-design of caregiving.
Jozica Kutin, Researcher from RMIT University, worked with Today to bring the award-winning digital tool—You,Me & Money—to life. You, Me and Money was designed for and with young people to raise awareness of economic abuse.
“The best time to bring your idea to Today is early! By adding their perspective and ability to think outside the square, your project and you will be amazed at what you can achieve,” Jozica said.
“Working with Today was an amazing experience. They were able to push us outside of our comfort zone so that we were able to translate our research into a tool that helps young people.”
Expressions of interest for Daybreak close Friday 23 July, 2021. Future impact areas for Daybreak from 2022 include Growing Purposeful Business, Accelerating Community Organisations, Humanising Service Systems, and Strengthening Towns and Cities.
