the-channel.org, Australia’s first LGBTQIA+ Giving Circle, opened up its second round of funding this week.
There’s $5,000 on offer for organisations or projects supporting LGBTQIA+ communities in ‘Overcoming Isolation’ – the grant round’s theme.
Eligible organisations can submit an expression of interest any time between now and 15 September.
“Our Members have chosen to focus on the theme of ‘overcoming isolation’ for our second grant round as a large portion of LGBTQIA+ Australians live in rural, regional and remote areas. We recognise the additional challenges that this can present, and want to put the funds towards fostering connectivity and increasing opportunities for participation for these members of our community,” said Georgia Mathews, the-channel.org Executive Director .
“At the same time, ‘overcoming isolation’ can mean different things to different people. We encourage interpretations of the theme beyond just rural and regional projects.”
This grant round comes straight off the back of the-channel.org’s first round of funding, through which two LGBTQIA+ projects promoting ‘Brave Representations’ shared in $15,000.
“We’re planning on having rounds open for the majority of 2018, and we encourage any not for profit organisations or individuals working with LGBTQIA+ communities in Australia to sign up to our E-News to stay informed about future funding opportunities,” said Mathews.
