Become a certified association executive

Your contribution to the profession of association management and to the Australian Society of Association Executives (AuSAE) can be tangibly recognised through gaining AuSAE accreditation and becoming a certified association executive (CAE).

The AuSAE accreditation system considers your professional development, education, contributions to the profession and your participation in AuSAE activities on a points system.

If you don’t have years of experience as an association executive, accreditation can also be attained through a series of five graduate-level courses based on 44 key competencies of association management. All courses are delivered online and facilitated by senior certified association executives. The courses are structured to reflect activities and processes that typically occur in not-for-profit organisations. Upon successful completion of the five courses, students have the option to sit the CAE examination to earn the CAE designation.

CEO of Restaurants and Catering Queensland James Visser is a highly experienced association executive with over 14 years experience in association management. He opted to provide the panel of assessors with relevant evidence of his experience in the key competency areas of leadership, association structure and environment, direction and strategy, membership services, operations support, products and services.

“Putting together the necessary documentation to prove your experience and competency leaves you with a most impressive dossier and compilation of your work. It proved to be very beneficial as it rounded out everything I’d already done. It was quite marvellous,” says Mr Visser.

Already very popular with association professionals in Europe, the US and Canada, the professional accreditation is sure to prove popular in Australia as well.
