The case for clarification: why NFPs need to revisit the past to identify the future

The diverse and challenging landscape in which not-for-profits (NFPs) operate often makes organisational survival difficult. Many NFPs rely heavily on government funding, while others rely solely on public funding through donations.

Government-funded or self-sustaining, most NFPs identify the same overarching goal – to better society for the greater good.

Often under-resourced, many NFPs find it difficult to drive funding strategies and remain compliant, and above all stay true to their reason for existence. Despite these overwhelming challenges, there is one main reason that they continue to exist – their objectives are far greater than simply generating a profit as the contribution they provide to benefit the greater good of society often can’t be quantified.
