The National Heart Foundation of Australia has appointed former Victorian State Emergency Service Chief Mary Barry as its new National CEO.

Barry has forged a successful career in the aged care sector, including six years as the founding CEO of the Victorian Association of Health and Extended Care. More recently, Barry played a major part in transforming the Victorian State Emergency Service into an independent, high-profile statutory authority that has a crucial role in the community.

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) has appointed Jenna Palumbo as Director for Western Australia. Palumbo has a wealth of experience in finance and management and has worked with a number of pioneering organisations in the impact investment space. Most recently, Palumbo was Investment Director at Big Society Capital in London.

Nareen Young, Diversity Council Australia’s (DCA’s) CEO, will step down from her role this year to pursue board and executive opportunities. Young has been appointed as an advisor on diversity to Westpac Group in a part-time flexible capacity for six months, commencing on 17 February 2014.

Patricia Leary has been elected to the position of President of Neighbourhood Watch Australasia. Leary recently retired after approximately 28 years on the bench, as a Member of what is now the Fair Work Commission.

For twelve years, Leary held the appointment of President of the Tasmanian Industrial Commission. She has also been a Member, and President, of the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal and Chair of the Australian Federal Police Board of Reference.

Currently, Leary continues in her roles as Chair of the Northern Territory Police Arbitral Tribunal and Chair of the Tasmanian Police Review Board.

The Australian Lacrosse Association (ALA) has re-appointed Paul Mollison to the position of ALA Director of High Performance for a two-year period. The Association says that Mollison’s wealth of experience in and boundless enthusiasm for the sport of lacrosse can only help the area of high performance lacrosse to improve and move forward.
