New CEO announced to lead Domestic and Family Violence sector in NSW

Domestic Violence NSW (DVNSW), the peak body for domestic and family violence specialist services across NSW, announces the appointment of Joanne Yates as their new CEO and looks forward to her leading DVNSW and the sector towards our vision of a NSW free from violence, where women, families and communities have equal rights, opportunities and the freedom to reach their potential.

Incoming Domestic Violence NSW Chief Executive Joanne Yates said, “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining DVNSW at such an important time.  In particular, I am looking forward to working with our members, and the women we serve as we continue to provide much needed critical support and the policy reform necessary to address domestic and family violence in NSW.”

“We’d like to congratulate Joanne on her appointment which will support DVNSW to address the high levels of domestic violence in the NSW community,” said DVNSW Chair Helen Silvia. ”Joanne is experienced and highly qualified and we are confident she will continue to strengthen and lead the peak body for specialist domestic and family violence services in NSW, DVNSW.”

Joanne, who will commence on Wednesday 9th October, brings a wealth of governance, stakeholder engagement, policy development and strategic planning experience to the role, having held various senior executive policy, advocacy and advisor roles within government and member based organisations, including her most recently role as Director of Policy, Advocacy and Research at Chief Executive Women, an organisation representing more than 550 of Australia’s most senior and distinguished women leaders.  She is passionate about pursuing gender equality and the work of DVNSW.
