Fashion retailer, Suzanne Grae, has pledged its support for White Ribbon Australia day, continuing a partnership which has raised over $2.1 million since 2008 for the campaign to prevent and end domestic violence towards women.

The partnership delivers funding for an education program in schools, aimed at violence prevention. ‘Breaking the Silence’ focuses on developing positive attitudes towards others among students and within the school community.

“We are committed to the cause,” said Suzanne Scozzi, company CEO. “Every woman deserves to feel safe.”

The learning program for principals and school leaders encourages students to display behaviours and be models of respectful relationships in school ethos and classroom activities. The program allows principals and school leaders to give students the opportunity to learn and define respectful relationships, averting the continuation of violence against women and girls.

White Ribbon Day, held later this week on Friday, aims to change the attitudes and behaviours that lead to and perpetuate men’s violence against women, and represents the world’s biggest majority male-led effort to end the violence.

By taking the White Ribbon oath, Suzanne Grae said Australian men and boys are committing to stand up for the women in their lives.

The retailer said it supports schools in building on initiatives, policies and curriculum, in promoting schools as a respectful centre for education, safe workplace, and as a vehicle for community culture change.

Schools who engage in Breaking the Silence are recognised as White Ribbon Schools.

In 2014, was accredited as a White Ribbon workplace in recognition of its work to eliminate violence against women in the workplace.
