The Hungry Jack’s Wishmaker month has officially wrapped up and surpassed its total goal, raising a whopping record of more than $2 million to help support Make-A-Wish® Australia in granting life-changing wishes for critically ill kids.
The Hungry Jack’s community achieved the extraordinary feat across four weeks from 30 May to 26 June 2023, with donations increasing by more than 30 per cent on last year’s Hungry Jack’s Wishmaker month, laying the foundation for even more wishes to be granted in 2024.
Hungry Jack’s CEO Chris Green said the support shown by Hungry Jack’s customers, suppliers and franchisees has once again been incredible and is a testament to the work carried out by Make-A-Wish Australia.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our customers and the Hungry Jack’s community in getting behind this important cause supporting Make-A-Wish Australia, and we’d like to thank each and every one of them.”
“The Hungry Jack’s Wishmaker tally has exceeded our goal of $2 million, raising a record amount for the three years we’ve run this fundraiser. Hungry Jack’s was proud to match donations made during Double Down weekend from 16-18 June. We still have donations coming in from our partners and will be finalising the total over the next couple of weeks.
Hungry Jack’s customers and crew purchased more than 376,000 Wishmaker $2, $5, $10 and $100 stars during the campaign which wrapped up on Monday 26 June.
“These much-needed funds will help grant unforgettable wishes for seriously ill kids and Hungry Jack’s is proud to support Make-A-Wish Australia, an organisation changing the lives of children for the better,” Green added.
Hungry Jack’s Wishmaker has now raised more than $5 million since beginning in 2021, providing incredible support to Make-A-Wish Australia during the pandemic, and helping to grant hundreds of wishes to critically ill children.
Make-A-Wish Australia CEO Sally Bateman said the money raised will have a profound impact on the lives of wish kids and their families.
“We are incredibly grateful for the remarkable generosity of the Australian community and the dedicated Hungry Jack’s team, including the 25,000 crew, who have made this fundraiser possible.
“Make-A-Wish Australia receives no government funding and the Hungry Jack’s Wishmaker campaign is vital as our largest annual fundraiser. With rising costs, record applications and more than 950 kids on their wish journey right now, this support has never been more essential and will make an immediate impact for the critically ill kids on our program,” Ms Bateman said.
Make-A-Wish Australia has supported critically ill children in the Australian community for over 37 years.
