The Woolworths Queensland team recently presented the Children’s Hospital Foundation with a cheque for $5.7 million, at the annual Channel 9 Telethon in Brisbane.

These funds were raised throughout 2017 via raffles, Wall Token Drives and sausage sizzles, as well as generous donations from the Woolies team.

Matt Franich, General Manager – Operations Queensland said, “This remarkable result is thanks to the passion of our store teams, and the generosity of our customers. It‘s an achievement we are all very proud of.”

“Caring deeply is a core value in our business, and through this fundraising, our team did an outstanding job of bringing this value to life. The Children’s Hospital Foundation is making a real difference to families throughout Queensland and it’s a cause our team feel very connected to” said Matt.

Woolworths has been in partnership with the Children’s Hospital Foundation since 1986 to help sick kids and their families throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Over the last 31 years more than $52 million has been raised to provide the best possible treatment, care and support to sick children and their families.

Woolworths support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation is part of its commitment to create a healthier Australia.

I love the irony in the last sentence given Woolworths are one of the biggest, if not the biggest owners of liquor outlets and pokie machines in Australia.

Did you also notice that most of the money ‘donated’ is actually via fundraising money FROM customers and not from the corporation itself?
